James Argent has spoken out following his arrest
Former TOWIE star James Argent has spoken out after his arrest.
Argent was given a suspended sentence following a domestic violence incident involving his partner, Nicoline Artursson.
Former Miss Sweden Artursson, 32, had been dating Argent for 11 months, and the couple were on holiday in Mijas, near Malaga.
Spanish police told BBC that Argent was arrested on May 5th for “an alleged crime of domestic violence”.
Speaking about the incident, Argent told MailOnline that he is “devastated” over what has happened.
He told the publication:
“I haven’t relapsed. I am still three years and four months clean and sober.
He added, “I am devastated by what’s happened.”
He appeared before the Court of Violence against Women in Fuengirola, where he was handed a six-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, the BBC reports.
Argent has also been banned from contacting Artursson for the next 24 months.
A Spanish Ministry of Justice spokesperson says he “acknowledges the facts and admits the penalty”.
Argent has been ordered to complete a gender violence rehabilitation course.
“The suspension would be lifted if [Argent] fails to comply with the measures imposed,” they added.
Argent featured on TOWIE from 2010 and 2018, and became known by the nickname Arg.
