Uh-oh, it seems as though there’s another Hatha-hater on the block and to be honest? We didn’t see this one coming. James Franco has admitted that he hasn’t spoken to Anne Hathaway since he co-hosted the 2011 Academy Awards with her.
Celebrity gossip website RadarOnline.com reports that James dished the dirt on poor Anne when he appeared on Howard Stern’s radio show earlier this week.
From the start of the conversation, James admitted that Anne probably wouldn’t be happy that he was talking about her.
“I’m happy to revisit this, but you’re going to have to take the lead. If you’re going to talk about it, you’re going to have to give your opinions… She does not want me talking about this, but okay,” said James.
Howard Stern brought up the topic of ‘hatha-hating’ and asked James why he thinks Anne seems to rub everyone up the wrong way.
Not BFFs: Anne and James haven’t spoken since they hosted the Oscars together in 2011
“She’s just so affected actress-y that even when she wins an award she’s out of breath, and then she has the standard joke that sounds like it’s written. And it all seems so scripted and acted,” said Stern.
“She comes off like the good two-shoes actress and it’s just fun to sort of hate her. Hate is a strong word… but dislike her, even though she is a great actress. Is that accurate?” he continued.
“I’m not an expert on – I guess they’re called ‘Hatha-haters’ – but I think that’s what maybe triggers it,” said James, agreeing with Stern’s remarks.
We bet Anne’s ears were burning, God love her.
When he was asked if he was still in touch with Anne, James admitted that the pair “haven’t talked in a while.”
Apparently Hathaway and Franco fell out after certain comments that James made about her when he appeared on The Late Show. He reportedly compared the actress to a “Tasmanian devil” after working with her at the Oscars.
“I let James know that a whirling dervish is a more flattering comparison than a Tasmanian devil. I called him, and we emailed a bit,” said Anne, speaking to Harpers Bazaar after James made the comments.
“In the grand scheme of things, I got to have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I met great people, wore beautiful clothes. And I got to put on a show. I don’t see a downside. Anyone who disliked my personality probably disliked my personality before the Oscars,” she added.
We imagine that James won’t be getting any Christmas cards from Anne this year…
