The pair, who met on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here, were filmed kissing at Universal Music's party, but Maura was not the one with a wedding ring on her finger.

She was hit with waves of backlash over the incident, but many fans came to her defense following the incident.

A source has told Closer that Maura has found the last few weeks incredibly tough.

"It’s been a tough few weeks for Maura. She’s mortified and would do anything to erase what happened. She was at complete rock bottom when it all came out," they said.

However, many will agree that the backlash Maura faced was somewhat unjustified.

"At the same time, she feels like some of the backlash that’s come her way is unjustified. She’s saying that she refuses to be labelled as the villain or the sole reason that Danny’s marriage is in bits. It just isn’t fair for all the blame to be on her."

The source added: "It was a drunken night, and Maura insists that she can’t even remember the kiss. It wasn’t and won’t ever be a “thing” between them, and she’s said she won’t speak to him again."

Danny Jones issued a statement about the kiss on Instagram

Danny Jones addressed the scandal on Instagram after taking some time to be with his loved ones.

The McFly frontman said he would do anything to make his marriage work.

"Sorry it’s taken me a while to post this, but I’ve taken some time out to be with those closest to me.

"I want to deeply apologise to my wife and family for putting them in this situation. I love them so much, and we’ll continue to deal with this privately."
