Will.i.am has donated his 500k pay check from his appearances on the Voice to charity. The singer claimed he didn’t feel right taking the money.
Will has donated his huge pay packet to the Prince’s Trust Programme, which funds disadvantaged children looking to start businesses in areas like engineering and technology. He told The Big Issue magazine: ”The Voice’ is the BBC, it’s the people’s money, so it didn’t feel right.”
Will is no stranger to the idea of charity starting at home. When the Black Eyed Peas sold 100,00 albums he set up the Peapod foundation which fit inner-city kid’s clubs with media gear. He later followed this up with his i.am.angel Foundation.
I.am.angel aims to transform young people’s lives through education and has worked closely with the Prince’s Trust Programme.
“Education is the most important thing,” he commented. “And making the youth realise how powerful they are.”
“My family, that’s what they do, they go out and help.”
