Is The Irish Music Mogul A Phoney? Louis Lets Slip How Boyzone Made It Big

As Louis congratulates Gary Barlow on his prestigious award, he lets a little-something slip about his Boyzone inspiration...

Her

“You remind me of a young Elvis!”

He may be Irish, but Louis does make us cringe and he has plenty more cheese-tastic lines like that under his belt to use at any given moment from his X Factor chair.

But, even though we might criticise Louis’s dodgy catchphrases and strange decisions on the reality TV talent show, our conscience always told us to take it easy on the Mayo man. He did create some of the world’s biggest boybands…

Or did he?

Louis Walsh joined a star-studded guest list at the MIT’s charity dinner last night to pay tribute to chart legend Gary Barlow… and he might just have let something slip.

Gary Barlow was presented with the 21st annual Music Industry Trusts Award at a glittering charity dinner in central London yesterday evening.

The annual award ceremony, which not only honours some of the UK’s biggest and best musical talent, also raises funds and awareness for several charities and community services.

As modest as ever, the Take That frontman and X Factor judge told OfficialCharts.com: “The award is one thing, but the real reason why we’re here is for the trusts that this night funds. It’s the BRIT School and the Nordoff Robins centre, if you’re involved in music, you know what they do. This evening is all about fundraising for those places.”

Ahh, Gary, we love you.

Congrats Gaz!

Fellow X Factor judge Louis Walsh was next to take to the mike and paid the greatest compliment to his onscreen rival, saying:

“I went to see Take That all those years ago in Dublin, then I did Boyzone. So basically I kind of copied what Gary did. I’ve followed his career from day one.”

Louis, you mean to say you didn’t create Boyzone from a seed of imagination in your own mind?!

Maybe next time Louis gives District 3 a shocking song choice for the X Factor stage we won’t feel any guilt bashing the tele with verbal abuse…
