“Is It Because I’m Fat And Old, You B*stard?!” Robbie Williams Blasts Radio 1 DJ At Ceremony For Not Playing His Music

Tensions running high for Robbie...

Robbie Williams didn’t hold back showing his disgust at Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw last night at the Sony Radio Academy Awards.

He called the Breakfast Show host a “b*stard” for not playing his music on air. Robbie had heard that Radio 1 weren’t playing his tunes anymore because he was “too old”, the Irish Sun reports.

During his set at London’s Grosvenor House last night, Robbie said: “I did the Brits and started singing, ‘Hey-ho, here we go’ to a bunch of industry people and they were all just like, ‘F**k off, you’re fat and you’re old. And Radio 1 don’t play you no more, you’re fat and you’re old’.”

He then looked at Nick and said: “Isn’t that right Nick, you b******?”

Radio 1 DJ Nick was at the end of Robbie’s ranting last night.

And Robbie didn’t do anything to help the tension when his joke about Jimmy Saville went down like a lead balloon, the Belfast Telegraph reports.

The singer decided it was the perfect opportunity to joke about the child sex abuse scandal at the BBC, as he referred to the complex Yewtree investigation.

“I came here and looked around and thought, ‘I’m the only person I recognise here tonight’. It’s like looking at the cast of Operation Yewtree 2014. Ooh, too soon, too soon?,” he said.

Robbie just couldn’t leave the Radio 1 matter go, referring to it again after he sang Candy.

“That’s Candy,” he said to Grimshaw, “How four-year-old do you want it, Radio 1?”

He then started chewing his gum loudly, leaned forward on his microphone to the DJ and said: “Those aren’t drugs by the way. Nah, Radio 1’s not something that keeps me up at night, not at all.

“They’ve let me back on anyway with Dizzee Rascal, so thanks for that, Radio 1.”

Ouch. Too much tension there to even cope Robbie…
