The Irish ladies at the Royal Ascot certainly didn’t disappoint us in the fashion stakes

Olivia Hayes

Ah, the Royal Ascot.

The Royal Ascot is synonymous with elegance and high fashion. While the dress code is very traditional, year after year there is excitement to see how the rich and famous will match traditional with style.

The Irish ladies attending Royal Ascot never disappoint us and they certainly didn’t this time around.

With many well known faces making an appearance such as Laura Whitmore, Imelda May, Rachel Wyse and Yvonne Keating we were keen to see what sartorial splendour they would pull out of the bag this year.

Laura Whitmore

Laura knocked it out of the park yesterday, wearing a designer called Tata Naka by Georgian twin sisters Tamar and Natasha Surguladze. The dress had scallop and polka dot detailing and focused on pastel colours. The TV presenter teamed the dress with a Philip Tracey hat, Aspinal of London bag and Gina Shoes platform heels.

Imelda May

While trouser suits have only been welcome at Royal Ascot for a few years now, Imelda May decided to rock the trend. In a sea of dresses and billowing flowery hat, Imelda chose a bespoke tuxedo by British designer Joshua Kane to go along with a wide brim black hat by Victoria Grant.

Rachel Wyse

It seems like pastel hues were popular this year as Sky Sports presenter Rachel Wyse donned a gorgeous baby pink A-line number by GOAT (which is currently on sale on Matches Fashion). Rachel paired the pastel number with a Bundle MacLaren Millinery hat.

Yvonne Connolly

Yvonne enjoyed the day with a monochrome look, wearing a fitted Whistles dress along with an Irish milliner Laura Hanlon’s hat. She matched her look with a pair of drop pearl earrings and a Chanel bag.

Cecelia Ahern

Author Cecelia Ahern announced that she is expecting her third child with husband David Keoghan at the Royal Ascot this year. She wore a chic black pleated midi dress and matched that with a cropped leather jacket, Prada heels and a Chanel bag. She also wore a striking pink hat by Laura Hanlon.

Special mention: Kate Middleton

She may be far from Irish but Kate Middleton was repping Irish fashion. The Duchess of Cambridge wore a gorgeous baby blue hat by Irish milliner Philip Tracey. She paired the hat with a dress by Elie Saab which featured a pussy bow tie and long sleeves.
