A second inquest has found that Amy Winehouse’s death was caused by alcohol.

The verdict of misadventure and the evidence is the same as was heard at the first inquest.

A re-hearing had to be carried out as the first was heard by a coroner without the necessary qualifications.

Amy Winehouse was a very talented singer and songwriter.

According to reports the hearing was told today that the Back to Black singer was more than five times the legal drink-drive limit when she died.

St Pancras Coroner Dr Shirley Radcliffe said that Winehouse died of “alcohol toxicity” before clarifying that it was “a level of alcohol commonly associated with fatality.”

She was close to her father Mitch who set up a foundation in her name.

She also said that “two empty vodka bottles were on the floor” beside the star’s bed when her body was discovered.

Dr Christina Romete, Winehouse’s GP, saw her patient the night before her death. She explained: “She specifically said she did not want to die.”

The 27-year-old was found dead in her bed at her flat in north London in July 2011.
