“I’ll Take Half of His Name!” Says Chris O’Dowd’s Wife Dawn Porter

When it comes to getting married, there’s one big decision that every woman has to make at some point in time – do you take his name or do you keep your own?

The decision would probably be made easier if your other half had a deadly/absolutely crap last name, but some of us, especially women who have built careers around their name, dither slightly.

While most celebrities choose to keep their maiden names after they tie the knot, there’s one celeb woman who has decided to compromise on the entire thing and take, well, a bit of her husband’s name.

Dawn Porter who recently waltzed up the aisle with our very own Chris O’Dowd has said that rather than taking O’Dowd’s full name, she’s only decided to take a little bit. What does she mean exactly?

“I have taken the ‘O’,” said Dawn (now) O’Porter, writing in Glamour magazine.

“I am lucky that I have the option to keep Porter prominent and take a tiny letter that, for me, expresses the unity with my husband that I am proud of,” she continues.

We have to say…we sort of love this idea. It’s the perfect way to remain independent but to also give a nod to the special man in your life.
