“I’m worried that people aren’t talking to each other about it, I’m worried people are going to stigmatise.”

Idris Elba has said that he “worried” since testing positive for coronavirus.

The Luther actor revealed that he had contracted the virus earlier this week despite exhibiting no symptoms.

Elba said that he was planning to self isolate for the foreseeable future with wife Sabrina, who has not tested positive for Covid-19.

Sharing an updated livestream last night, the actor added that although he is “feeling OK,” he remains concerned about the spread of the virus going forward – and the complications he might experience due to his asthma.

“Yes, of course I’m worried,” he said. “I’m worried about having the virus, I’m worried about having asthma and how that can make things really complicated for me really quickly.

“I’m really worried about whats going on in the world, if I’m honest, I’m worried about how we’re dealing with it.

“I’m worried that people aren’t talking to each other about it, I’m worried people are going to stigmatise.”

Elba added that although he had received many messages of support since revealing his Covid-19 status, he had also been criticised by some people too.

His wife’s presence in the video had led to some questions about whether or not it was safe for her to be there.

Some had also questioned how Elba had managed to avail of testing so quickly.

“Just for clarification, Sabrina wanted to be by my side,” he said.

“As much as we talked about her not coming to where I am, she did, and wanted to and I love her even more for it and I would do the same for her.

“Who am I gonna turn down my wife’s support? As much as I wanted to keep her safe, we presumed if I had it there was a likelihood she’d have it too.”

Elba is one of a few Hollywood celebrities who have tested positive for coronavirus over the past few weeks.

Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson have also tested positive for Covid-19.
