British television presenters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan have revealed that they have agreed to help each other to die if diagnosed with a terminal illness.
In an interview with The Telegraph, the married couple confirmed that they believe in the idea of assisted suicide in such circumstances and would proceed with their suicide pact in spite of the possible legal consequences.
“If Judy was really ill and in logical mind, and at that point where you just need a little push to go over the edge, I wouldn’t give a tuppenny f*** if there was a risk of being prosecuted. I’d do what was right for my wife. And I’d take the consequences. That is your job, that is your responsibility as a partner,” said Richard.
The 59-year-old revealed that they made the decision last month following the death of his mother from Alzheimer’s disease and lung cancer.
