“I Want to Settle Down in Ireland” says Chris O’Dowd (But His Wife Might Need Some Convincing…)

The actor has revealed that he'd love to come back to Ireland, settle down and start a family. We wonder if he'll be able to talk his missus around?

Chris O’Dowd may be living the high life as a Hollywood celeb but, like any Irish person living abroad, his heart will always be in Ireland (even if his wife isn’t too pushed on moving here).

The Moone Boy star, who currently lives in London with his wife Dawn Porter, has said that he would happily give up life in the city in order to come back to Ireland, settle down and start a family. However, he joked that his wife would probably need a fair bit of persuasion in order to get her to agree.

“Maybe. I like the idea of it but someone might need to be convinced,” said Chris.

“We try not to talk about settling down yet. I think I’ve scared her enough!” he added.

Chris is currently working in Ireland on two separate projects – his new movie Calvary is being filmed in Rush, county Dublin and he is continuing to film episodes of Sky series Moone Boy in his native county Roscommon.

Hundreds of locals turned up to watch a recent bout of filming for Moone Boy, where a mock church was burned down in the village of Boyle.

“It’s great. There was a period of about seven years where I was only here for Christmas and separate religious occasions, so being here for a stretch now is nice because it means you properly get to see people,” said Chris.

“Sometimes you can feel like a tourist in your own country if you’re only coming back for a little while so it hasn’t felt like that,” he added.

Well said Chris. So…any chance we’ll be bumping into you around Dublin any time soon?
