“I Absolutely Hated Myself For It” Says Tearful Helen

She doesn't come across as the sharpest tool in the box but at least she can admit when she's wrong.

Not that we’re saying it fixes anything but at least Helen Flanagan isn’t afraid to hold her hands up and admit when she’s done something wrong.

As you probably know, the former Coronation Street star found herself in hot water this week after posting a photograph of herself holding a gun to her head only days after the massacre in Connecticut.

The snap, which was taken a few months ago, was shared by the actress on Monday and was soon everywhere including the front page of The Sun leading to a wave of criticism.

Helen was called “insensitive and stupid” for posting the snap.

All week people have been talking about it but now Helen, who charmed her way into our hearts on this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, has spoken about how bad she feels about the whole thing.

Fighting back the tears on Daybreak this morning, she said: “I absolutely hated myself for it. I am incredibly sorry. I just could not be more sorry… my heart bleeds for the families.”

The 22-year-old also explained that she felt it was wrong for the newspaper to put it on the cover: “I did think for it to be on the cover of The Sun like that was unfair because it was a completely careless second… I would never, ever want to hurt anyone.”

The actress appeared on Daybreak this morning to talk about what she did.

Helen then went on to say that she would learn from her mistake and, while it won’t undo the hurt caused by the picture, we are glad to hear that she will think twice next time.

You can watch the full interview with her on Daybreak below…
