Add us as a preferred source on Google »On the 15th anniversary of his mother's tragic death, Liam Neeson's son, Daniel Neeson, took to Instagram to share a poignant tribute to the beloved actress, Natasha Richardson.
Accompanied by a heartfelt black and white photograph, Daniel penned a touching message to commemorate the day.
"15 years since you've left this plane onto forever more," he began, expressing his longing for their eventual reunion.
Reflecting on their cherished memories, Daniel reminisced about Natasha's fondness for margaritas, and playfully revealed her nickname was the "OG margarita mama".
"She was the OG margarita mama!”
He fondly recalled her gentle refusal of his requests for a sip as a child, a memory that now ties into his own venture into the world of tequila.
“As a kid, I used to ask her for a sip of hers, and she would gently say not till you're older.
“Little did she know I would one day start my own tequila brand and have way too many margaritas at my finger tips.
"Hopefully, I'm making you proud. I think you would definitely be proud of my margarita skills,” he continued.
Drawing inspiration from his aunt, Joely Richardson, Daniel reflected on the inevitability of change and the connection between the past, present, and future through the powerful force of love.
“We're all interconnected here and over there through love. The greatest life force. Choose it above all else," he concluded.
Natasha Richardson tragically passed away at the age of 45 in 2009, following a skiing accident in Quebec, Canada.
Despite initial reluctance for medical assistance, Natasha's condition rapidly deteriorated, leading to her hospitalisation in New York and subsequent passing.
Announcing her death, a family spokesperson published a statement on behalf of Liam Neeson and his sons.
It spoke of their shock and devastation, emphasising their gratitude for the outpouring of support during such a heartbreaking time.
An autopsy revealed that Natasha's untimely death was the result of a brain hemorrhage caused by blunt impact to her head.
Liam Neeson later recounted his final moments with his wife, expressing his love and sadness as he prepared to bring her home to New York surrounded by family and friends.
"I went into her and told her I loved her,” he said.
"Said, 'Sweetie, you're not coming back from this. You've banged your head. It's – I don't know if you can hear me, but that's – this is what's gone down.
“'And we're bringing ya back to New York. All your family and friends will come.' And that was more or less it."
Natasha Richardson's legacy lives on through her sons, including Micheal Richardson, who honoured his mum by adopting the surname Richardson in 2018, ensuring her presence and continued influence in their lives.
