Her Heroes Of The Week… Heartwarming GAA Video Proves There Is Life After Cancer

Her

Ever wondered where all the good men are gone? Or where are all the gods? So have we.

It’s that time of the week again, ladies…

This week’s #HerHeroOfTheWeek goes to everyone involved in the ‘Life After Cancer’ GAA charity match.

On May 5th, two teams with a difference took to the field of O’Moore Park, Portlaoise for a game of football that encapsulates just what makes the GAA so special.

The inspiring event celebrated the courage of the players who had battled and survived cancer, and all proceeds were in aid of St. Luke’s and St. James’ Hospital cancer units, where many were treated for the disease.

The powerful message portrayed by the players was one of hope and positivity, showing us that you can lead a full and normal life after cancer.

Thanks to the folk at Pioneer Media Productions highlights were caught on camera and this video helps capture “the magic of the day”.

As one of sports greatest commentators, Micheal O’Muirtheartaigh, said on the day: “The one thing about every player on this field – they are already winners.  They have many honours as sportsmen but their greatest honour is they’ve battled courageously and hopefully against the disease of cancer and they have conquered.”

If you would like to get involved in #LifeAfterCancer donations can still be made on www.charitygaamatch.com or simply give €4 by texting MATCH to 50300.

Do you know a HERO?

Ladies, every week we will select one complete gentleman to be Her Hero, not without your help of course…

How can you help? Send an image of someone you think is an absolute hero, and if we agree, your entry will get a very deserving and coveted place.

He doesn’t have to be fast, he doesn’t necessarily have to be brave, or have ever been involved in a fight in his life… but it may help.

The picture can be anything, a nice gesture from your boyfriend (providing you have one), a text from your Dad or friend, or even someone lovely you happen to meet on the street. Surprise us!

Send your potential Her Heroes to [email protected] or use the #HerHeroOfTheWeek on Twitter.

Until next week…
