Gwyneth Paltow is being sued by a health expert for copyright infringement on her health and lifestyle blog, Goop.
Charles Platkin, a health expert who calls himself the “Diet Detective”, is accusing Paltrow’s site Goop of copyright infringement, claiming Gloop Inc. used the trademark phrase in an article listed online in July.
Platkin ordered Goop to remove the phrase, which they did, but later requested monetary compensation. Platkin claims that his requests were ignored, and that the “Diet Detective” tag is still present on the site, allegedly used in the article’s title and metadata.
The suit filed states Goop’s alleged infringement “dilutes and tarnishes” Platkin’s brand image, and suggests that Goop’s use of the term has a negative impact on Platkin’s search results.
Platkin is seeking monetary damages and a jury trial in the case.
Paltrow has yet to make a comment on the case.
