Model Gigi Hadid was arrested at the airport on July 10th.

Police discovered drugs in Gigi Hadid’s luggage before her arrest, reports have confirmed. The supermodel was arrested in the Cayman Islands following the discovery.

Gigi was arrested with a friend after landing at Owen Roberts International Airport in George Town on July 10th.

According to TMZ, Customs & Border Control agents put Hadid’s bags through a scanner at the airport and then searched them by hand, finding a small amount of cannabis and smoking utensils. She was reportedly arrested at the scene and charged with possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia.

Although it was claimed the cannabis was legally bought and for personal use only, Gigi Hadid and her friend were arrested on charges of the importation of marijuana and the importation of utensils.

She was taken to the Royal Cayman Islands Detention Center where she was arranged for bail.

She was later released pending an investigation into the case.

Gigi was fined $1,000 but TMZ reported that there is no conviction on her record.

The 28-year-old model began her career at the age of just two when she was discovered by Guess co-founder, Paul Marciano. Hadid began working as a child model before leaving the industry to concentrate her efforts on school.

She then returned in 2011 before having her huge breakthrough in 2013 after signing for IMG Models. In the years which followed, Hadid cemented her status as one of the top models in the world and one of the biggest names in fashion and entertainment.

Since September last year, Hadid has been rumoured to be in some sort of relationship with Leonardo DiCaprio, but as of yet, nothing has been confirmed.
