Gangster’s Paradise : Handsome Actor Set To Make A Return To The Big Screen

Jude Law is all set for his big comeback – playing a foul mouthed, overweight gangster.

After years of bad reviews and publicity over his family life, Jude is expected to hit the headlines with his title role in London based revenge comedy Don Hemingway.

The film premiered at Toronto Film Festival and is set for release this November.

The 40-year-old told the Standard: “He’s foul-mouthed and abusive to himself and everyone else. But, for some reason, he’s incredibly charming. I really fell for him.

Law - who sports a dishevelled beard in the film - revealed: "I had to get him out of my system so I shaved everything off, and got rid of all the other stuff I used for it, all the fizzy drinks and the cigarettes and we put them in a box and buried it with a little cross."

"So anyone who really loves the film can go and look for the cross that says Dom Hemingway on it. It's in a field somewhere."

The Closer actor put on 30lbs for the role by eating ice-cream and drinking fizzy drinks although his co-star Richard E. Grant maintains the extra weight doesn’t stop Jude from being a heartthrob.

"I feel sorry for Jude because even after gaining 30 pounds he still looks like a walking love god. And wherever we were on location, women's knees were literally wobbling, so he seems immune no matter what he looks like. Whereas the rest of us have to scrub up to try and be vaguely attractive to the opposite sex. Not Jude!"

The film’s American director Richard Shepherd also had high praise for the actor, “Jude has been through the ringer with the press in Britain and his attitude is now I’m going to live my life and f*** all of you guys. He tapped into places in his own psyche to find that. Jude has to make everything seem real to him, so somewhere in him is Dom, but it’s not his everyday character.”
