Game of Thrones Actor’s Photo Used in Russian Anti-Rape Campaign Without her Permission

Emilia Clarke, famous for her role as the fiery Daenerys in Game of Thrones, has found herself at the centre of a political drama after a photo of her was used in an anti-rape campaign.

A mayoral hopeful in Yekaterinburg used an image of the star as part of his campaign, claiming that she was a 24-year-old woman who was happy with the security in the city.

The Russian campaign named Clarke as "Anya" and stated that she enjoyed walks in the nighttime because she was "confident that nobody" would "harrass" or "rape" her.

The campaign organisers admitted that they had not asked the star for use of her photo. 

"We selected a famous and beautiful actress on purpose, to make it clear that this is a fantasy. Next time we will write more clearly. Sorry" they said when asked about the photo. 

"Our internet post which was a fantasy with a photo of Emilia Clarke, famous for the TV series Game of Thrones, has caused a strange resonance." 

"We assure you, Daenerys Targaryen, in this case, is just a beautiful woman."

"We don't claim that we have her support, even though we would not be ashamed to show her Yekaterinburg after implementation of the 'Capital' programme."
