A funeral celebrating the life of comedian Joan Rivers will take place in New York today.
The private service is due to take place at New York City’s Temple Emanu-El but no further details on the ceremony or those who will attend have been released.
According to People Magazine, Joan’s daughter Melissa was seen yesterday bidding a tearful farewell to her mother’s casket as it made the journey to a crematorium in preparation for today’s service.
Rivers’ had famously requested an outlandish celebrity funeral in her 2012 book I Hate Everyone… Starting With Me and reports earlier this week suggest that the comedian will be buried with a red carpet.
“When I die (and, yes, Melissa, that day will come; and, yes, Melissa, everything’s in your name), I want my funeral to be a huge showbiz affair with lights, cameras, action … I want Craft services, I want paparazzi and I want publicists making a scene! I want it to be Hollywood all the way,” she said.
“I want Meryl Streep crying, in five different accents… I want a wind machine so that even in the casket my hair is blowing just like Beyonce’s.”
