‘We were more than just cast mates’ – Friends cast release joint statement in tribute to Matthew Perry

The cast of Friends have released a sweet tribute to their cast mate Matthew Perry (Chandler Bing) following his untimely death on October 28th.

The news of his passing sent shockwaves through the acting world, with many of his past co-stars echoing their devastation over his death.

Perry was found dead in his hot tub on October 28th by emergency responders in Los Angeles.

Law enforcement confirmed that 911 dispatched responders at around 4:00 pm local time due to a report of cardiac arrest from someone at the property. 

When they arrived on the scene, they began water rescue protocol after Matthew had seemingly drowned. 

At the time, it was reported that there were no illegal drugs on the scene and police did not suspect any foul play in relation with his death.

On Monday, Matthews Friends cast mates released a joint statement to People, which read: “We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family.

“There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss. 

“In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”

The show, Friends, premiered in 1994 and ran for an impressive ten seasons. 

The final episode was aired in 2004 and broke TV records with more than 50 million people tuned in to mark the end of an era. 

The cast reunited in 2021 for a reunion special, during which Perry ended up in tears as they reminisced about filming the show and building such wonderful relationships on set.
