They might be a little different to the moves he did when he was in Westlife but it seems that Nicky Byrne is a natural on the Strictly Come Dancing dance floor.
So much so that his sister-in-law, author Cecelia Ahern, has apparently given him the nickname “Glitterballs.”
Nicky’s wife’s sister, Cecelia, reportedly gave him the nickname.
The former boy band singer told the Irish Sun that his wife Georgina is delighted with his new venture: “My wife is buzzing with excitement. She will come to all the shows – we are very much a team.”
But Nicky also added that his famous sister-in-law is having a bit of fun with it: “Her sister Cecelia, nicknamed me Glitterballs and now that’s the running joke in my family.” Somehow we have a feeling that title is going to stick!
Nicky and Karen will be taking to the floor together this weekend.
And while the heartthrob’s steps are pushing all the right buttons, his style unfortunately isn’t. Speaking about it he said: “After seeing my first dance, Georgina could not stop laughing for ten minutes.
“She told me, ‘Seriously, you need to change your style’… I had Cuban heels with ankle socks and shorts! My legs looked so white. I am not sure I am ready for fake tan but everyone tells me the wall does come down eventually.”
This weekend Nicky will be performing the waltz with his dance partner Karen Hauer who is new to the show this year. Are you as excited as we are to see him in action?
