First ever Love Island contestant set to appear on Strictly Come Dancing

Strictly Come Dancing has reportedly signed on its first ever Love Island contestant, and it's a good one. Zara McDermott is rumoured to be heading onto the BBC series later this year to compete for the Glitterball trophy, reports have said. The 26-year-old first starred on Love Island back in 2018 and quickly made a name for herself. BBC bossed hope that by having Zara on Strictly, she will "attract more younger people to watch the show" and will also be "furthering her career” with the BBC. A source told MailOnline: “Zara is the perfect signing for Strictly, not only is she beautiful and glamorous but she is hardworking and will take being on the show very seriously. [caption id="attachment_584391" align="alignnone" width="1481"] Credit: Getty Images[/caption] “She’s absolutely loved the experience of documentary making and is over the moon to further her relationship with the BBC by signing up to Strictly. “It is a dream come true for her and becoming the first former Love Island star to do so is the icing on the cake.” While Zara is best known for her time on the ITV2 dating series, she also starred in Made In Chelsea on E4 after she began dating Sam Thompson. And in 2019, she starred on The X Factor: Celebrity alongside her Love Island co-stars. Until now, the BBC has yet to bring on a Strictly contestant that has appeared on Love Island but now think that due to Zara's documentaries, she is the perfect fit. Zara has been the face of multiple BBC Three documentaries including her experience with revenge porn and the rise of eating disorders in teenagers.
