This week has officially been THE week for crazy chat show related rumours. First it was being reported that Cheryl Cole was in talks to become the UK’s answer to chat show queen Oprah Winfrey (this turned out to be false) and now?
Now rumours are flying around the place that golden balls himself, David Beckham, has been asked to step off the football field and chat up a storm on American television. Yes, really.
The Sunday World is reporting today that David is getting the chance to launch a Hollywood career as a chat show host. Apparently Time Warner Cable (a massive TV company in the States) is super-keen to sign Becks up as a presenter to do his own chat show on their newly-launched sports network.
Executives are reportedly offering the footballer a multi-million dollar deal to front the chat show two nights a week that will see him interviewing other sporting legends.
Becks, celebrating a win with his football team
Is Becks likely to go for it? Who knows, but if recent reports are anything to go by, the offer could have come at exactly the right time for him. Apparently David is signed up to play for LA Galaxy for another two years, however the future of the club has become uncertain in recent weeks.
David is reportedly worried about the planned $7 billion sale of the club’s owner, the entertainment giant AEG, and the impact it could have on his career.
“He can launch his showbiz career while still playing, but it’s also a great hedge against what has now become an uncertain future for him,” said media analyst Mike Raia, speaking yesterday.
Hmm… Becks on our TV screens without having to sit through a football match? We think it’s an awesome idea. Do you agree ladies?
