Fair play to him.
Bridgerton season two has well and truly kicked off, and with a whole load of stars returning, there’s one new face that has the whole country talking.
While not much is known about newcomer Theo Sharpe as of yet, we do know two things. He could be potentially a new love interest and the actor who plays him is Irish, what more could you want?
Calam Lynch’s character goes way back with the Featheringtons, and not only does he have this connection, but him and fellow Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan also have a history.
Calam has a long resume, starring in Dunkirk, Black Beauty on Disney+ and played none other than John Paul O’Reilly from the prom episode of Derry Girls.
He’s been described as “not just a working class man, he’s also an intellectual who fights for the rights for all.”
In his Bridgerton role, Theo isn’t an original character in Julia Quin’s books, but seems to be inspired by The Viscount Who Loved Me’s Mr. Bagwell.
But his biggest role that you may recognise him from Mrs. Wilson as he was none other than Gordon Wilson.
“Calam Lynch is Theo Sharpe,” the official Shondaland Instagram account announced the 27-year-old’s casting in April 2021. “A hardworking printer’s assistant. But he’s not just a working class man, he’s also an intellectual who fights for the rights for all.”
“We have a bunch of new characters we are going to be introducing,” showrunner Chris Van Dusen said on the Today show in January 2021. “Anthony is going to have a love interest next season, and I think it’s going to be as sweeping and moving and as beautiful as viewers of the first season have come to expect from the show.”
Definitely one to look out for.
