Elaine Crowley heartbroken after mum passes away

Ellen Fitzpatrick

Such sad news.

Elaine Crowley has been left heartbroken after her mother passes away after a battle with cancer.

Announcing the news on Instagram, the TV presenter paid tribute to her late mum on Saturday night, revealing her heartbreak.

She said: “My best friend is gone. My heart is broken. Love you to the moon and back Mary V. I’ll be lost without you.”

Her mum Mary was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2019 and also had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Elaine, unfortunately, has lost two parents now, with her father passing away from liposarcoma when she was 23.

Elaine’s friends jumped to the comments to send their condolences for the presenter, with actress Amy De Bhrun writing: “So very sorry to hear this. Thinking of you.”

Karen Koster added: “What a beautiful mum, so Sorry Elaine. May Mary rest in peace.”

Elaine has been left with a huge family, with nine siblings in total. When her mum was first diagnosed, Elaine opened up about how her family were all pitching in to help out with her care.

She told the RTÉ Guide: “She is a strong woman. We’re all doing our shift work to make sure she is OK. I think she is sick of the sight of us.”

She also spoke to RSVP earlier this year, giving an update on her mum’s situation, adding that she and her siblings were taking turns spending the night with her in Cork.

Elaine said: “At least I have my turn when I am caring for her. I think if you are healthy and nothing awful has happened to the health of your loved ones, everything else isn’t a problem really.”
