Ed Sheeran Fell In Love With A Beanbag… While High On Ecstasy

Not quite what we were expecting.

Ed Sheeran has opened up about his experience of taking ecstasy, and it’s not exactly rock’n’roll.

The singer was sharing the background inspiration to his new track ‘Bloodstream’, which was allegedly inspired by his night on MDMA in Ibiza.

According to Spotify the singer said:

“I don’t know how much I can tell you about that. I’m not a massive drug-taker, but that song was written after an experience in Ibiza and it’s basically about all the feelings that I got from that time. It was weird, because I haven’t taken it since, it was literally just a one-time thing.

“It was a wedding, and I was having a mojito, and my mate was like, ‘Do you want to try it, it tastes really bad if you put it in your mouth but I’ll just put it in your drink and it’ll be fine’. It was MDMA and I fell in love with a beanbag. I literally got home and bought six beanbags! During it all I felt a lot of things: I felt anxiety, I felt love, I felt warm, I felt a bit weird. And afterwards, you spend all day just thinking about what you’ve been through.”

The 23-year old said he later went home, telling his parents he had tried the drug, but has no interest in taking anything again:

“I found out I’m not missing much – that experience was probably the best out of all of them. I think alcohol’s a lot more fun.”
