The singer has been suffering from a bit of a guilty conscience...

Ed Sheeran has revealed that a rant aimed at Miley Cyrus on the red carpet at last year’s Grammys is one of his drunken regrets, saying he wants to make it up to Miley.

The 23-year old was being interviewed by Howard Stern when he admitted that he owed Cyrus an apology for his rant against her. The ‘Don’t’ singer had previously slammed Miley for her controversial dance moves, saying:

“Twerking is what strippers do. It’s a fact. If you go to a strip club, not that I go to strip clubs, but if you go to a strip club, they twerk. You shouldn’t be encouraging little kids to twerk. If I had a daughter of mine, I wouldn’t want her twerking.

“When I first heard Wrecking Ball, I thought it was a brilliant song. But the video distracts too much from it.”

Speaking on a US radio show with Howard Stern yesterday, Sheeran tried to explain how his rant came about, admitting he woke up the following day with anxiety:

“There was a thing that happened around a year ago involving Miley Cyrus… I was at an after-party at the Grammys, had a bit [to drink]… and there was a red carpet at this after-party.

“I just had a bit of a rant which I didn’t really mean. I woke up the next morning and got this anxiety thing.

“I said [something] along the lines of, ‘You’re voice is amazing, your songs are amazing, just stop twerking.’ I didn’t say it in the nicest way and I do genuinely love her music and think her voice is great.

“I don’t really know what to do. I’ll find a way to [apologise].”
