End of an era…
Eastenders star Shona McGarty has announced she is leaving the BBC soap after 15 years.
The 31-year-old has been a fan favourite on the show since she joined that cast in 2008 at only 16.
The actress who plays Whitney Dean will reportedly see her final scenes broadcast early next year.
Shona has been a staple on the show, being nominated for various different awards, including a number of National Television Awards for her portrayal of Whitney.
She was nominated earlier this year for a British Soap Award in the Scene of the Year category. The scene showed Whitney tragically losing her baby with Zack Hudson, who is played by James Farrar.
Shona isn’t the only cast member set to leave the soap opera as the shake-up will also see Lorraine Stanley, 47, who plays launderette worker Karen Taylor making her exit.
Lorraine first appeared in the BBC soap in 2017 but is best known for her role as Kelly n the 2006 film London To Brighton.
