Katie Holmes is preparing her daughter early for the fast-moving business and economic world ahead.
The new face of Bobbi Brown cosmetic chain has reportedly signed her six-year-old daughter, Suri Cruise, up to Mandarin classes.
Katie and Tom have signed the school-starter up to the Chinese language course at her new school Avenues in New York City. Suri will have the opportunity to travel to one of the institute’s overseas branches when she is older.
A source told RadarOnline: “Suri is going to be learning Mandarin. She is in the programme for the Lower School which focuses on Chinese, and this is a great foundation for her.”
Suri started attending the $40,000-a-year (€30,934) private school at the beginning of September for the first time after mum Katie decided the pair would live in New York permanently after her much-publicised split from Tom.
The school looks like the place of dreams for youngsters. A rooftop playground, a main gym that has a full-size basketball and volleyball court and plenty of after-school activities means Suri is enjoying her first few months of school.
The only child was taught at home by a private tutor the year before.
We think pretty Suri will be an A1 student…
Avenues is part of a series of international schools which also have branches in China, India, Africa and Europe, along with other US cities.

Tom’s attorney Bert Fields recently revealed the Rock of Ages star was calling Suri twice a day as he wants to play a big part in her life even though he is busy shooting a movie in England while she is in New York with her mother.
He said: “Tom has been in England shooting a film. He calls Suri every day, sometimes twice a day.
“He loves Suri and is a constant presence in her life. As in the past, when he’s shooting in a foreign country, he has to rely on daily phone calls.”
With Suri’s new language skills, she might even be able to travel with her dad when she’s older…
