Doting Dad Nicky Organised Dublin Dance Rehearsals So He Could Be Near His Family

He may have hit the dance floor for the first time at the weekend but Nicky Byrne knows what’s really important in his life.

It was revealed today by the Herald that the former Westlife singer insisted on having his dance rehearsals for the show in Dublin to avoid being away from his family for too long.

In fact Nicky told BBC bosses that it was the only way he would participate in the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Nicky took to the floor with his dance partner Karen Hauer at the weekend.

Nicky and his wife Georgina Ahern have twin sons together and they are staring school this year which is a huge milestone for the whole family.

Nicky spoke to the RTÉ Guide about the boys: “They’re happy and healthy, coming out of school buzzing… They’re talking to each other about what they have done all day. It’s kind of surreal at the moment.”

It’s certainly not a time that the doting dad wants to miss. For the duration of the programme Nicky will fly to London every Thursday. His family will then join him at the weekend for the live shows and on Monday they all fly back home again.

Now if only the dance steps were as easy as that, he’d be sorted!
