“It was horrific”
Doireann Garrihy has just completed her first year hosting Dancing with the Stars and it’s safe to say her career is going from strength to strength. She is one of the most loved presenters in Ireland, but Doireann feared her career was in trouble after a fake voice note was leaked, claiming she stole someone’s boyfriend.
Doireann opened up about the ordeal in an interview with The Independent, revealing that the incident caused major upset for her family, especially her sisters.
She told The Independent that “it was horrific”.
“You’re getting calls from newspapers and from people saying, “I really didn’t think you were this kind of girl.”
The voice note was completely fake, but many people quickly believed it.
Doireann was heartbroken following the false allegations.

Doireann said she just “froze” when the false allegations started to circulate.
“It was really hard though being in the eye of the storm and doing nothing,” she said.
Doireann’s parents told her “it’ll be fine, it’ll all blow over” but she feared it would ruin her career.
The claims were quickly shut down after it was confirmed the voice note was fake.
Doireann said the incident helped her see the dangers of having a following online because there’s always someone waiting for you to mess up.
The presenter wrapped Dancing with the Stars just last weekend, but we already cannot wait to see what Doireann does next.
