Diana once gave Prince Harry a rude Christmas present – and he used it to prank the queen

Princess Diana had a highly curated public image but to her family, she was known as a doting mum and for having a serious sense of humour.

She's remembered for having tried to give her sons William and Harry a normal childhood - including a normal Christmas. The princess put lots of effort into finding presents her sons would love, her former butler Paul Burrell has revealed. "She’d spend hours looking for jokey things for their stockings," he told The Mirror. “One year, Harry got fake dog poo.” The young prince was delighted, he added, and planned to prank his granny, Queen Elizabeth, with it. We wonder how that went down in the palace... In attempts to keep them grounded, Diana famously took her sons to do ordinary things. As such, the lads spent time with their mum doing ordinary things like riding the tube in London. William and Harry also had a fairly cute Saturday night ritual when they were staying with their mum. The three of them would get a MacDonald's together and bring it back to the palace where they'd get cosy sitting on a giant stuffed hippo in Diana's living room and watch Blind Date together. "I’d hear them all screaming things like “Oh don’t pick him!” and “Lorra, lorra fun”," Paul said.
