He has a point though.
Dermot O’Leary has basically said that he may as well give up presenting if Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly win Best Presenter at the National Television Awards this year.
If Ant and Dec win, it would be their 18th year in a row, but Dermot has some thoughts.
The X Factor host said that all other nominees in the category “may as well just chuck in the towel” if the duo win the award.
Why? Well, they didn’t actually do a whole lot of presenting as a duo for most of 2018.
Dermot told the Press Association: “If they win it this year, we should just not do it anymore!”
“If they win it, having not been on television, we may as well just chuck in the towel.”
He makes a very valid point, to be fair.
So who else is up for the award?
Graham Norton, The Chase star Bradley Walsh, and This Morning’s Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield are all nominated for Best Presenter, alongside Dermot and Ant and Dec.
And Derm reckons Holly or Graham should be the winners, saying: “With the greatest respect to the boys, I think Holly has had such a great year, and Graham.”
The interviewer also asked Dermot O’Leary what he thought about the fact that Ant and Dec were nominated.
“They made the decision that they want to put themselves up this year, so you’d have to ask him.”
“Aside from all this, you want to win an award, of course you do when you are nominated for it, but most people just want to see Ant get better and then come back.”
