Demi Lovato’s latest Instagram has gotten people talking

You just can’t do right for doing wrong sometimes.

Demi Lovato is a well-known advocate for body positivity but her latest Instagram post on the issue has caused a stir online.

The post seems to have backfired, however, as followers were quick to point out that Demi’s thighs aren’t actually touching in the picture. "This appears to be because of the way she’s sitting, but that hasn’t stopped people from commenting:

“Yeah sure keep telling yourself that...." “Ummm isn't that a gap?" “Um yes you do......... looking for compliments much? You're a terrible influence for kids".

Others have jumped to Demi’s defence:

"A thigh gap doesn't define beauty, your confidence does". "You made a lot of improvements, you've been working sooo hard these years... You've became an hero for many people out there". "You may not have a thigh gap but your curves are to die for". "Beautiful the way u are".

The singer has not responded to the controversy but has been open in the past about suffering from an eating disorder. Just this week, she tweeted about her “freedom” from the problem.
