Imagine how different Colin Farrell’s life would be if he had scored a position in Boyzone. There would be no plush cars, or A List Hollywood parties and he would probably be desperately trying to flog a new album that nobody wants in their Christmas stocking.

However, the Hollywood hottie has spoken about the time he donned tight leather trousers and a rubber t-shirt to perform in front of Louis Walsh.

The ‘Total Recall’ star said he was required to wait in line with 150 other teenagers, all clad in similar attire and fake tan in order to nab a spot in Louis Walsh’s then unnamed band.

Colin back in his teenage years with his faithful leather trousers

According to RTÉ , the actor said: “So I was on a dance floor in Dublin and I was 17, in leather trousers and a rubber T-shirt – I’ll spare no embarrassing details – when Louis Walsh came up to me and said, ‘I’m forming a band, they’re going to be huge, do you want to be in it?’

“I said, ‘Yeah’, so I went to an audition the next day and there were 150 lads outside the door with various spray-tans, tight T-shirts, etc,” he recalled.

The actor said he is notoriously terrible at singing and Louis’ cronies made him sing his tune twice because he was so funny.

Colin did not make the Boyzone cut

“I went in and sang Careless Whisper twice… they asked me to sing it again because they couldn’t believe how shocking I was,” he finished.

Despite his questionable outfit choice we can’t help but laugh at Colin’s tales. We think that’s one for the grandkids!
