Irish musician CMAT plays at Glastonbury, and we love to see it

There are dozens of famous faces performing at Glastonbury over the weekend, including the queen of Ireland, CMAT.

The Irish musician has grown in popularity, particularly after the release of her latest single Take a Sexy Picture of Me, and we couldn’t be prouder.

CMAT, known as Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, played today at Glastonbury, looking like an absolute icon.

The Irish singer has proven she’s an integral part of the music scene, and one singer we should all be hyping up.

She deserves to be up there with Charli XCX, Taylor Swift, and Billie Eilish. And we know she will reach those heights someday soon.

Some of her most popular songs include Take a Sexy Picture of Me, Stay for Something, and my personal favourite, I Don’t Really Care for you.

CMAT not only writes powerful lyrics but also songs that are super catchy and impactful.

She told BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders that she was inspired to write Take a Sexy Picture of Me after being trolled over her appearance.

The musician explained that the inspiration sparked when she was mocked over how she looked on social media.

“I was just wearing clothes and everyone was very annoyed at me for that,” she tells Radio 1’s Jack Saunders.

“Everyone is constantly being judged on whether or not they’re commercially attractive and where they fall within these really weird goal posts.

“The thing with this song was, I wanted it to sound joyous and uplifting to sing,

“But also to be a bit of a rallying cry.

“If we’re dealing with a song that’s as dark as this, and as grim as this, we have to make it a bit funny.”

“I just was annoyed, and I wanted to write a song about being annoyed about it.”

Though I am gutted I couldn’t attend Glastonbury, I am there in spirit, and you know I would be dancing the night away to CMAT.
