‘Things are hard’ – Christine McGuinness speaks out about her divorce from Paddy

Christine McGuinness has opened up about her difficult split from her ex, Paddy.

The couple had been married for 11 years before they decided to call time on their relationship in 2022. They share three children, twins Penelope, and Leo, ten, and Felicity, seven, who, along with Christine, have all been diagnosed with autism.

Now, after calling time on their marriage and agreeing to live in the same house to make things easier on their young children, the 35-year-old has said she is ready for 2023 to be over.

Speaking to the Mirror at the Pink Ribbon Foundation Gala charity, the blonde beauty confessed that though things are hard right now she plans to start 2024 with “a bang”.

“I am obviously going through a difficult divorce right now, things are hard, but I will always continue to smile and the reason is because I am my mother’s daughter, she has instilled that in me. She has been my rock and is a huge inspiration to me,” Christine said.

Her mother Joanne was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020 with Christine confirming in 2021 that she was in remission and that she herself received a negative test for the BRCA (breast cancer gene).

‘I am doing okay, obviously, there are a lot of changes going on and it’s not easy but I am really looking forward to 2024,” she added.

“I know you shouldn’t wish your life away but I am looking forward to this year being over and starting next year fresh with a bang.

“I really want to focus on the positives and make the most of a new year and new opportunities.”

Though Christine says she has big plans for next year, she’s showing no signs of waiting as it was recently reported that she landed a role in the BBC Two show, Pilgrimage.

The programme will see her doing exactly what the title implies; going on a pilgrimage.
