“Memories may be all we’re left with, but they’re enough to last a lifetime.”

Cheryl has shared an emotional tribute to the late Sarah Harding on what would have been her 40th birthday.

The former Girls Aloud member sadly passed away on 5 September 2020 after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

Taking to Instagram, Cheryl posted a heartwarming video montage featuring beautiful clips of Sarah, as well as snippets of the two together and some Girls Aloud performances.

Memories by Maroon 5 played in the background of the short video.

“Memories may be all we’re left with, but they’re enough to last a lifetime,” Cheryl wrote underneath.

Fans took to the comments to show their support for Cheryl and pay their respects to Sarah.

“Love this montage, such precious memories. Sarah will forever be in our thoughts, wishing her a heavenly 40th birthday, I know she’s having a ball today up there,” one person wrote.

“Sending all my love to you and the girls today,” another said.

“Thinking of you all today,” a third added.

Following Sarah’s death, Cheryl took some time away from work, with a source saying she had been “hit hard”.

Paying tribute to her friend at the time, she said:

“Although we knew this day would arrive I am somehow still feeling at a loss for words that our stunning, unique, crazy, quirky, kind and soft hearted girl has departed.

“As I try to navigate my way through these painfully strange and horribly unfamiliar waves of disbelief & finality I am experiencing, I wanted to extend my condolences to all of our GA fans. We were like an extended family for so long and we know so many of you by name.

“I wanted to make sure you knew just how much your love and continued support meant to Sarah through her most vulnerable times…

“She was so grateful and you really lifted her spirits when she needed you most… I also realize so many will be deeply affected by the circumstances of Sarah’s passing… I am sending you all so much love. I love you Sarah… farewell.”
