Recently, Justin Bieber was crowned King of Twitter with over 37 million followers but, according to a recent report, around half of these followers are fake accounts. The teen star was confirmed as the most-followed person on twitter earlier this year, with Lady Gaga trailing behind in second place.
However, now a report from social media analytics experts, Socialbakers, has discovered that half of his followers are fake accounts, according to The Sun.
These accounts follow less than 50 people, have very few followers and never actually tweet themselves. The experts are also including accounts that tweet buzz phrases in their report, i.e. accounts that constantly tweet words like “diet” or “make more money.”

Bieber currently has over 37 million followers, but if we take into account these fake accounts, the real number is actually just over 17 million. This means that Lady Gaga, who was actually in second place, is now the Queen of Twitter.
Gaga, who has about 35 million followers, currently has about 19 million “real” followers.
Other celebs who have more real people following them than fake are Rihanna, Katy Perry and Barack Obama.
The bad times continue for Justin…
