Russell Crowe and his wife of nine years, Danielle Spencer, have separated.
The 48-year-old Gladiator star’s marriage split has reportedly shocked show-business circles.
The couple were regarded as having a strong marriage and had always seemed to balance both their working and personal lives.
Danielle, 43, once said of her former husband; “’All that stuff has nothing to do with me as a person.”
The couple’s split is said to have shocked their friends.
The couple have two children, Charles, 8, and Tennyson, 6. They have parted on friendly terms, according to the Sydney Morning Herald which reported the break-up.
The two children have remained with Danielle as Russell works on his latest film, Noah, in the States.

Russell and Danielle met each other 22 years ago on the set of the move, The Crossing. They married in a chapel on Crowe’s farm in northern New South Wales. He said he had thought of marrying Danielle the first time he saw her.

Crowe is not letting the split affect his career and has six films coming out in the next 12 months, The Man with the Iron Fists, Les Miserables, Broken City, Man of Steel, Noah and Winter’s Tale.
