Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter have broken up one year after their wedding

Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter have broken up - one year after their Indonesian wedding.

The Hills: New Baggings star and the blogger were together for six years. The pair's representatives told PEOPLE:

“Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter have decided to amicably separate. They love and respect one another, and know that this is the best decision for their relationship moving forward."

The couple said 'I do' in front of 50 people in an intimate ceremony at the Nihi Sumba resort on Sumba island, off the coast of Indonesia, in June 2018. However, a source told the publication that Jenner and Carter were not legally married as they hadn't made things official in the United States. They added that taking part in The Hills: New Beginnings "magnified a lot of things in their marriage and it became clear that it wasn’t going to work." They said:

“Brody and Kaitlynn have had issues for years. It is no secret amongst those who knew them. And the show was not good for them. “It got so bad that Kaitlynn had actually moved out before they started filming, but then moved back in. Doing The Hills magnified a lot of things in their marriage. And it became clear that it wasn’t going to work. They both knew it.”

Jenner and Carter first met at a party in 2013, where he recalled how it was an "instant" connection between them. He popped the question in 2016 at the same resort on Nihi Sumba, where the couple eventually wed.
