Jenna Fischer was diagnosed with breast cancer last year
The Office star Jenna Fischer has announced she is cancer-free after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023.
She urged her followers to get their annual mammograms because catching her cancer early saved her life.
However, Fischer said her lump was too small to detect during a physical breast check.
The actress admitted that things could have been way worse if she had continued to avoid her appointment.
She wrote, "If I had waited six months longer, things could have been much worse."
The 50-year-old was diagnosed with Stage 1 Triple Positive Breast Cancer.
"Luckily my cancer was caught early and it hadn’t spread into my lymph nodes or throughout the rest of my body, however, because of the aggressive nature of the triple-positive breast cancer it still required chemotherapy and radiation to be sure it didn’t return."
"October is breast cancer awareness month. I never thought I’d be making an announcement like this but here we are.
"Last December, I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Triple Positive Breast Cancer.
She confirmed, "After completing surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation I am now cancer-free."
Jenna said she hopes her post offers support and hope to people who have also been diagnosed with breast cancer.
"Know that should you get a breast cancer diagnosis, there is a village waiting to care for you," she added.
Women should conduct a breast self-exam at least once a month.
The HSE says most breast lumps (9 in 10) are not cancerous, but it's always best to have them checked by a GP.
