British actor and film director Lord Richard Attenborough has died.
The screen legend’s son confirmed the death of the 90-year-old to BBC this evening.
Attenborough, who has been in a nursing home with his wife for a number of years, passed away at lunchtime.

Attenborough directed the incredible biographical film Gandhi in 1982 which earned him two Academy Awards.
In a career that spanned over six decades, he is best known for his roles in hit films such as The Great Escape, Jurassic Park and more fondly for his portrayal of Father Christmas in Miracle on 34th Street.
