Boy George admits he threatened to quit I’m A Celeb four times

He went on strike one of the days.

Boy George has opened up more about his experience in the jungle, claiming he threatened to quit I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! four times.

Speaking in an interview with The Sun, the singer admitted he took off his mic during the show and went on strike in unaired scenes after the crew refused to give him clean socks.

The 61 year old said: “I am a bit of a stomper-outer, I spent the whole of the 80s saying I was going to leave Culture Club. My manager calls it my marching, when I start going, ‘That’s it I’m leaving.’”

Claiming he was close to doing a “Gemma Collins” on the show, referencing her exit after only three days on the show in 2014, George said he was on the brink of quitting multiple times.

He said: “The thing is, the jungle is designed to drive you crazy and it works, because everything in there is impossible. So there were times when I said, ‘If this isn’t beneficial to the show, I’m not doing it’.

Recalling one of the times he almost quit, George said it was when he was refused a buggy back to the camp after a trial.

He said: “I ran into the shed, locked it. This guy from the crew unlocked it. Then I locked it again. Then I started chanting. I was laughing a bit, crying a bit, thinking, ‘What is happening?’”

“Then they got me a buggy. And thank God, because it was miles back to the camp.”

This year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here saw a brand new Queen of the Jungle crowned – England footballer Jill Scott.

The Lioness beat out her fellow finalists Owen Warner and Matt Hancock by nabbing the majority of votes.

After she was announced as this year’s winner, she said: “I just can’t believe it!

“Honestly, I think I’m going to owe my grandma a lot of money for the 12 million votes she’s done.”
