Beyonce To Cover Amy Winehouse’s Iconic ‘Back To Black’ For Great Gatsby Soundtrack

Jay-Z is producing the album. Enough said really...

With Jay-Z acting as Executive Producer for the new Great Gatsby soundtrack, we really should have seen this one coming… Beyoncé, the rapper’s wife in case you have been living under a rock on the moon, is set to cover the iconic Amy Winehouse hit, Back to Black, for the album along with Outkast rapper, André 3000.

The singer is currently in the middle of rehearsing for her Mrs. Carter tour, but according to E! News has worked on a very different version of the classic Amy Winehouse song which was released in 2007.

The film, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan, is due for release in May and has been quite the talking point in Filmland as it heralds the return of Baz Luhrmann to the big screen. Baz is conveniently good pals with both DiCaprio and strangely, Jay-Z.

The soundtrack is set to include a genre mix of jazz, echoing the Twenties theme, hip-hop and contemporary. Luhrmann is no stranger to turning big tracks into very different versions for the big screen, particularly so with Moulin Rouge!

Perhaps it would have been a little more interesting to get Queen Bey to cover a Nirvana track… Let’s have a listen to the original genius.
