They waited for a girl and now they are intent on spoiling her.

David and Victoria Beckham commissioned an artwork from world renowned artist Damien Hirst for their baby daughter Harper’s bedroom.

The couple asked Hirst, whose most bizarre works have included a shark pickled in formaldehyde, to create a painting of a lilac heart to hang in the one-year-old’s bedroom.

We’re assuming Harper Seven must have been treated to a purple-themed bedroom, and Hirst’s painting was to top it all off.

David let slip about his most recent extravagance when he revealed he had a piece of artwork specially made by a friend for his daughter. When asked who the artist was, he replied, “David Hirst”.

The painter aptly entitled the piece, ‘Daddy’s Girl’.

After the rough, tumble and sports of his three eldest sons, David admits he is still astonished that he now has a daughter too.

“I’m still amazed we have a little girl,” he said, “Amazing.”

Even though they both lead busy lifestyles, David is insistent himself and fashion designer wife Victoria make time for regular date nights. He is adamant, however, that the couple’s “main priority” is always the children.

He told Esquire magazine; “As much as we work hard and we love to spend time with our kids, and that’s our main priority, we make sure we go out for dinner once a week.

“But our number one priority is our kids. Nothing work-wise, relationship-wise ever comes between that. We do what we have to do. We both work really hard. But one of us is always with the kids. If I’m away, she’s here, if she’s away, I’m here.”

We only love you more for it David…
