BBC Radio 1’s Adele Roberts announces she is cancer-free in emotional statement

She has battled the disease since October.

Adele Roberts has announced she is cancer free after several months living with the illness. Last October, the BBC Radio 1 presenter revealed she had bowel cancer. Since then she has been open about her treatment and life with a stoma, documenting her experiences on social media. The 43-year-old has now been told that she is cancer-free, announcing the brilliant news on Instagram. In a moving post, the DJ said: "The day I’ve been waiting for. Hearing the words 'you’re free of cancer' absolutely took my breath away. I keep replaying it in my mind.

"It was the most beautiful sound I think I’ve ever heard. Even though I was praying Dr Khan would say that to me I don’t think my head let me believe it until I heard it.

"Everything we’ve been through seems to be swirling around in my body and life feels a bit surreal at the moment… BUT I AM SO GRATEFUL! I am counting my blessings."

She also voiced her admiration for anyone dealing with cancer, writing that she is "in awe" of them. "The courage, the strength, the determination… and at times, the humour you have shown has been nothing short of super human," she continued. She also thanked her doctor, Dr Kahn, and the NHS, labelling them "angels amongst us." The comments section was quickly flooded with messages celebrating the joyful news. Kate wrote: "You did it my love. YOU DID IT. The happiest day of life and the most beautiful words I’ve ever heard! You & the NHS saved my world."

Comedian Joe Lycett wrote: "Extraordinarily happy for you ❤️"

BBC presenter Owain Evans said: "Sending you all of my love Adele ❤️❤️❤️ this is such wonderful news!! X"

And fellow BBC Radio 1 presenter Clara Amfo summed things up perfectly with a simple: "F*CK YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
