Archie’s godmother has finally been revealed – and it’s not who we thought

She was at Meghan's clothing collection launch this week.

All eyes were on Meghan Markle this week as she returned to work after her maternity leave with her close friend and son’s godmother by her side.

She and Prince Harry have kept lots of details about their son under wraps; including who they chose as his godparents.

“The godparents, in keeping with their wishes, will remain private,” a statement from the palace on the day of Archie’s christening read.

But Vanity Fair has revealed that Isabel May, a pal of Meghan’s, got the royal nod.

Isabel was sat in the front row this week as Meghan launched her capsule collection for Smart Works in London.

She and the duchess are said to have grown close after Meghan moved to the UK.

“While they keep their relationship very quiet, Izzy is one of Meghan’s closest and dearest friends and she values her friendship so very much,” a source told the Daily Mail.

“She helped Meghan adjust to lift in London when she moved here, and Meghan relied on her a lot. They totally support each other and, like any other female friends, enjoy social activities together.”

Isabel, a PR specialist, was previously the head of communications with Burberry. She now works as chief marketing director for David Beckham’s company DB Ventures.

The news is a surprise as many had speculated that Meghan’s close friend Serena Williams was Archie’s godmother.

It was revealed earlier in the summer that Harry’s school friend Charlie van Straubenzee had been named godfather.
