What’s a by-product of starring on reality TV show like Tallafornia? Well, aside from making an absolute show of yourself on national television, if you have a stripping business on the side you’ll make loads of money, apparently.
The Irish Sun reports that Jay Abbey, the buff builder from the show has said that he literally gets mauled by female fans since the show became a hit. And that’s not all, his stripping business is also booming. Although he admits that some of that could be down to the release of male-stripper film Magic Mike.
“You get a lot of people who want the guy from the telly to be stripping at their mam’s 50th or 60th, it’s hilarious. The show has helped business, I think the film [Magic Mike] will be good to show people what the industry is about too,” said Jay.
“There are double standards of course. Lads go to a girls’ strip show and they sit on their hands, girls think they can grab anything. You get felt up, but people feel it’s acceptable,” he added.
So how did Jay break the news to his mammy when he decided to become a stripper?
“I came home from work one day and said to my mam ‘I’m going to try my hand at stripping.’ She looked at me and said ‘Stripping out houses or what?’, I said ‘No mam, stripping for the ladies’,” said Jay.
Jay is currently getting ready to head off to Santa Ponsa to film the second series of Tallafornia.
“The first series I thought it would all end in tears. Now I think it’s all going to end in charge sheets,” he said.
